The Flowery Skirt

Turquoise skirt Burda 9/2007-116

 

The fabric for this skirt was an old old piece from stash.

The pattern was too short so I added a band to the bottom, and a small flower applique. I love the shape of the skirt. It really looks like a tulip now!

Do you think it needs a lining?

I used invisible thread to sew it on.

So, that's the second skirt for my mini wardrobe. Right now it seems that it's more versatile than the green 'cause when I decided to try to put together a few looks - it was easy. What do you think?

Green skirt Burda 2/2006-113

One of the pieces in the mini blue-green wardrobe finished! Sorry for the not-so-good photos...

I used some light woven from stash with lots of stretch. Guess it would look much better made with a heavier fabric with less stretch. You can see why here:

I had the perfect five plastic vintage buttons to complete the skirt - transparent white-yellow with white and blue stripes.

 

I will probably test-wear it first, and then decide if there is the need for another version.

And for tomorrow I hope to be getting back to MMM!!!

 

Skirt Burda 4/2008-110

Firstly, thanks everyone for the Birthday wishes! Made me very happy! :-)))

So, what did I do yesterday? It was pouring outside. Stayed home. Which wasn't so bad after all. I got to make this:

Winter skirts - part 3

One of my favorite ways of elongating a skirt is by adding a crocheted lace border. I love it. This technique is fun, easy and quick and the results are always great. No mistake.

This true vintage skirt was given to me by J. I loved to wear it so so much. I loved the fit and the fabric. And the little bunches of fruit print.I hope it makes someone else happy because I decided to donate it.

I made this one from a lovely piece of fabric printed to be made into a semi-circular skirt. I used a different but matching fabric for the waistband and added the crocheted border to get enough length. It stays with me.

The woolen fabric remnant that became this skirt was given to me by my friend N. I still like it and I'm keeping this one, too.

Would you ever crochet a lace border on your skirt? It is a pretty girlie detail, isn't it? Would you like a quick tutorial?

 

Winter skirts - part 2

I bought these skirts at the Sunday market. As they are actually lighter, they can be worn in spring and autumn, also. I'm keeping them.

 

Winter skirts - part 1

This is the first of a series of posts in which I will be showing you my skirt collection. As you already know - I love skirts. Especially flowery and colorful ones. Now, I decided to give some away to a charity organization, so I took some pictures of my heavier winter skirts. But, did not iron them first...Forgive me that, please! :-)

I made this skirt one winter when I gained some weight and could't put on the jeans. Embellished it with crocheted circles.

 

Used to wear it with a yellow sweater. To be donated.

 

I don't remember who gave me this gray one. I found it too plain so, of course, had to embellish it. This skirt is really heavy and really warm. To be donated.

Flowery brown linen skirt

M finally came to try it on, and I finally was able to finish it. This cutie has been waiting patiently on a shelf since June, I guess.

Made from light embroidered linen.

Balloon skirt Burda 5/2006 - 116

My third FO is this balloon skirt from Burda 5/2006 - model 116. 

I used this pattern during the summer and found it to be rather short. This time I added 10 cm to the length hoping it would work. The skirt gets just below the knee now without impediments to walking.

The lining is recycled.

The skirt is just as I envisioned it when I bought this beautiful devore'.
Just don't know what top to pair it with yet...

 

Flanel snowflake skirt

In the right mood today I tackled the UFO pile. Three pieces got finished!

Let's begin with this:

Little A line skirt , a bit over the knee. The pattern is from La Mia Boutique. I already used it for the violet corduroy skirt. I wish I had more fabric to make the skirt longer.

Oddly enough, when I saw this fabric I thought of snowflakes not flowers. What do you see? Flowers, snowflakes? Little doilies perhaps? :-)

I cut the back pieces carefully to avoid messing up the embroidered pattern and I'm very happy with the result. The facing and lining are recycled.

I have the perfect shirt fort his skirt. Now the only thing I need is the perfect pair of shoes...or boots...hm..?

To be honest, I don't like it. I don't know, must be the gloomy colors.
