Planning a brown mini wardrobe this time!
Right. We all know how planning works for me. At least I know I seriously need a jacket.
Yet another top from scratch. I used an old lady blouse found in one of the fabric boxes and some matching lighter remnants, both of unknown provenience.
To make it fun I used buttons of different colors and metal thread topstitching.
In the end it is obvious that the body is too short. The pattern needs 4-5 cm. Yet again, a nice shirt to be donated...sigh. I can pull this upper body length thing off with knits, but with wovens, it looks pretty bad. Remind me to take the necessary precautions next time, please. :-( The bad, or worse, news is that I have 2 more tops already cut out!

It is invisible here, but it has a side zipper.
I think it's cute, but the pattern needs some changes - more length to the body (about 2 cm) and back armscye taken in a bit. I'm sure it will be used again, especially since it was drafted for wovens and has several pieces which is great when you have a ton of scraps!
You all know the big love my little reuse/recycle/refashion genie holds for squeezing pattern pieces onto little fabric scraps, don't you? This little cutie top was made from the remnants of SMOTx3 . There's virtually nothing left. Nothing even to use for half a pair of panties. Assolutamente niente.
For the pants I used curtains. Yes, draperies. Old sun faded cotton red curtains I got from my ex boyfriend's mother a looong time ago. Dyed the fabric purple and sewed the pants. A slightly discolored portion of the fabric that didn't dye well is visible between the back pockets and yoke. If you look closely. :-) I'm wearing them now. They 're quite comfortable. I used this pattern. Also I learned that the creases under the derriere form because the waistband doesn't hold the pants tight around the hips or waist so the weight of the fabric pulls down. You can use a belt as an antidote, though.
Since the sewing machines were threaded white I finished another top from scratch and one more is half done. I haven't decided on ruffles yet. :-)

The spring version of this top goes fabulously with my denim pants.
If only there were more crazy patterns like this around! Only in warm colors, please. :-)
I love this pattern! Here you can see the new spring variation in a soft cotton blend knit.
The simplest sleeveless top pattern and an unusual fabric for the second SMOT entry.
Pieces of the outer knit fabric are attached to the knit base. I love the texture. And it is very very soft and cozy.
As I said yesterday, I didn't want to waste the fabric even though the goal was making a muslin for the top version of this pattern (model 118). So I made the dress Burda 2/2009-119. I'm glad I did!
Side note: The 2/2009 issue of Burda is full of great patterns. I don't understand what happened to them lately. I'm so disappointed. I certainly am not buying the magazine for only one pattern I like. Especially if it can be found in older issues or if it's easy to replicate. Any thoughts from you on this matter? Please, tell me I'm not the only disappointed one!

I used the yellow side of this old duvet cover.
The intention was making a muslin. Wearable, if possible.
The pants in progress:
Front looks good.
Length ok. I added several cm to the pattern.
Took in the back some.
The pants finished:
Nice front.
The back obviously needs a flat bottom alteration. Now I know that should be made right away, directly on the pattern piece, whenever I plan to make trousers.
Should I add back pockets?

Finished! But, ahem, the muslin looked better. Must be the different fabric. This one is a bit stretchy, unlike the muslin, and it pulls in every direction.
Something going on with the crotch? What to do with that? Any ideas?
This fabric has a different (heavier) fall.
We shall see how the fabric behaves after some wearing. Right now I'm pleased and happy with them. Soo comfortable!
I think they look quite good, don't they?
I have a dark blue denim with no stretch to use now. Should I use this pattern again to see the difference?
