Finally the yellow jacket! Done halfway. I redrafted the pattern with all the adjustments and it looks fine. Right now it's drying on the rack because I made a mess while ironing. Turns out this fabric doesn't like to be ironed. It's another heavy knit I got from Grandma. I had to soak the jacket to let the fabric shrink back into its original shape.

Muslin

Burda 8/2007-105. Nice pattern, bad fabric choice. Not wearable. No stretch in it. Old pajamas and boyfriend T-shirts should not to be reused for snug garments. Anyway, the pattern needs adjustments so it's not a big waste. Not to mention the plunging neckline...

Sunday market find

A nightgown that will be turned into a shorter dress. It's too big, the bias tape has to be replaced 'cause it's worn out, but the fabric, a light cotton, is perfect. And I love the flowers!

Is it spring yet?

Hello everyone!

It has been raining today, so I wanted to start with this gorgeous Second hand shop find! Yummy, no? I feel spring when I look at it! Also, little flowers started blooming around the house and made me smile, but the weather forecast said it was going to snow - again. So this little number will have to wait a minute before going to town.

I need to take it in at the sides because it's two sizes too big and maybe shorten it a few cm. And change those ugly buttons. Weeelll, you do understand I had to take it home anyway, don't you? :-))))

I also made some progress on the refashioning front. Finally those superbad fitting jeans became a skirt. Forgot the before pic, sorry.

You know how it goes:

- you measure the length and cut off the surplus of the leg length of the jeans

- unpick the seams of the legs till the point you can easily overlap the pieces

- insert a piece of the leg remnant as a panel to the front and one to the back

- pin first and than try it on to see if it fits nicely, otherwise repeat the process till you're satisfied

- sew the pieces together - I did it directly, with topstitching

To finish this skirt differently, I didn't just hem it, but stitched a decorative stitch  1 cm from the edge and then frayed it. You can click on the photo to see the detail better.

Sunday market finds - part 2

Under a huge pile of clothes I found a real dirndl! The fabric is so cheerful.

 

 

 

 

There are also a skirt and a nightgown.

 

 

The fabric is taffeta, printed and embroidered, but the skirt is too small for me.

 

The nightgown is so light and comfortable.

Russian neckline dress

I just love Paisley patterns, so when I saw this dress at the Sunday market - it had to be mine. In addition to that it is red and gold! Who would resist to the added sparkle?

The dress was from the 80's judging from the stile. Enormous, bell shaped, and the sleeves were long to the elbow.

After narrowing it a lot and making cap sleeves, this is the result:

I like the neck line a lot, the ruffles and the little buttons. I hope you can see them.

Unfortunately, the fabric keeps you too warm to be worn in summer, and the dress is too short to be worn without tights in autumn. I opted for the tunic-dress variation.

Looked good, but too much black. Need to find a lighter combination.
