Finally we're back!
Can't wait to start making something!
Missed you all! I have to catch up now with your blogs...
A little parting shot:
Sewing needles almost 2000 years old!
Sorry for the blur...
I will be back soon with a little selection of photos from our vacation. As soon as I get them from Z. :-)
Aaah, it's good to be back in the heat of this city! :-D
Yes. Two full A4 pages. Ahem.
It's 28 pieces of clothing (for my mother, a friend, for kids and myself) and 13 pieces of underwear. In stages from muslin to almost done.
Also, there is a bag of cut out handbags and a box of cut out slippers.
Errr, is that a lot? Too much? Really really too much?
Well, I get to finish some from time to time...
Is this list long enough for a year round challenge? How long do you think would it take to sew them all? All all?
Do I sound worried?
Ok, let's see what we can do... from left to right.
Progress will be reported.
Could use some cheering, though! :-)
On the other hand...
I have a super duper surprise for all of you avid sewists always in search for inspiration!
I uploaded almost ALL my sewing magazines - front page and pattern overviews - here !
There are more Burdas, but I hope to get to finish tomorrow. This was a lot of work, you know! But now I have all the magazines ready to be browsed without getting them all out. Even though some good old turning leaves is always welcome, inspirational and relaxing, isn't it? I know. Like you don't keep at least one sewing magazine beside the bed... ;-)
The last few days I decided to take all my UFOs a step further. No matter how small the step. A dart or a hem. So I did. And now I feel much better, the pile got smaller and less overwhelming, and the pins are back into their little box. Because it happens that I run out of pins.
So...why was it not my day today? When I was just about to finish the blue shorts, this happened:
Err, they will have to wait until tomorrow to be rescued.
Then, I managed to finish the bronze hat. Quite lovely!
But! Some threads pulled out from (or of?) the edge seam of the brim. Ugh.
However, there is one good news. I also finished Z's pants! :-)
One of my favorite style blogs is "Ephemera" .
In this particular post, Sheila, the lovely and fun author, shares her travel packing strategy. You just have to read this post ! Amazing. You will thank me later.
After that feel free to spend hours enjoying Sheila's outfits. :-)
May just flew by. MMM is over. Any goals achieved? Studied a little, sewed a lot more. Unfortunately I wasn't able to MMM all month long as I wanted to and also the cold weather had me wearing some clothes I didn't plan to wear. At least the Blue-green wardrobe was completed. Plus some orange and red to go with it. Which doesn't, really, but got me thinking about adding a white and peach or orange skirt to the group.:-D
Wrapping it all up I made 2 dresses, 2 skirts, 1 pants, 5 tops and refashioned 1 top and 2 cardigans. Not bad, eh? It's all here:
(minus the blue pants and tops, plus the stripey top I'm wearing right now)
In addition to that I made a dress muslin in Burda tall size 80 I'm getting ready to post about, two muslins for Z's pants, cut out 4 dress muslins, joined the Trench Coat Sewalong and the Summer essentials sewalong.
Oh, I forgot about the croqui! Have to print the photos. How about now? ...
How about planning a look or designing something new directly on YOUR body?
ELMO from "Adonising" posted a great tutorial on how to make your personalized fashion croqui!
Part one - Making your croqui
Part two - Dressing the croqui
And while you're there, check the whole site! Very interesting and informative. I love it.
Throughout the years I've given away a number of issues that would equal a third of this pile...
Now, recently we had a new addition to our household. His name is Epson Stylus Photo PX710W and I'm in love! Printer, scanner and photocopier - all in one. Works like magic. And I have a plan! I'm going to record all my sewing magazines with front page and pattern index. I will not have to take them all off the shelves every time I'm looking for inspiration ever again! Just go through the folders. Ahhh...I think it's going to take me a few months to do that...How many issues are there anyway??
