While at my parent's house Mother and I cleaned up the closets. She finally decided to do it. Afterward, I realized I never saw the shelves so bare. But I felt lighter.
There was a ton of stuff to be given away. Not all to the Red Cross! I brought back some. To give away or to refashion. Z joked that we needed a bigger car...:-)
These are clothes to refashion.
What I'm not showing here are the five bags of clothes to be given away. There were six.
Oh, and I forgot to mention that I managed to put my nose inside Grandma's closet, too. To my Mother's delight. She thinks Grandma keeps too much stuff in there. Unnecessarily. But they are much the same. They keep stuff for sentimental reasons not because they wear those dresses. It's because they belonged to their late relatives, sisters, aunts...With so much love. To be honest, I keep a few pieces for the same reason. :-) Do you?
On the other hand, my parents' families were poor. They learned to be thankful for and to take care of their belongings. So I understand Grandma's "No,no, I will keep this some more...You never know...For a need...".
Then I cleaned up my own shelves. Once again.
I feel so fortunate.
I promised Grandma a new dress.
