The pattern is based on a doily pattern. I hope to finish crocheting it in a day or two.
My Grandmother's birthday is on Christmas day and I soo want to give her this present! She is the one who taught me to crochet and knit when I was a child, and I remember her wearing shawls back then. I know she's going to love it!
Getting back to the brown trousers...yes, the creases bothered me. So I thought about them, wore the pants, looked, pulled, pinched, and - aha! There is too much fabric there! Oh, my derriere is rather flat, let's admit and face it.
See? Already looking better.
Well, it's not perfect since I pinned myself, but at least now I know what I have to do to alter the paper pattern. There are two great tutorials for flat seat adjustment here (Ann Rowley) and here (Debbie Cook) for removing excess fabric from the back legs.
Finished! But, ahem, the muslin looked better. Must be the different fabric. This one is a bit stretchy, unlike the muslin, and it pulls in every direction.
Something going on with the crotch? What to do with that? Any ideas?
This fabric has a different (heavier) fall.
We shall see how the fabric behaves after some wearing. Right now I'm pleased and happy with them. Soo comfortable!
I think they look quite good, don't they?
I have a dark blue denim with no stretch to use now. Should I use this pattern again to see the difference?
No creases in the front! Yay!
The only thing to do was taking in the center back a bit. Almost perfect! The length, too.
I'm cutting the fashion fabric now. I'm so behind with this project!
P.S
Take a look at the Month of Pants blog . Those ladies are doing a great job. Would you join us?
Cute! Made with the leftovers from this project following the instructions fellow Refashionista Andreae provided. Thanks Andreae!
I also made mittens using the orange sweater leftovers but, ugh, it was a disaster. They flew directly into the trash bin. Sometimes it happens...:-(
For the first time in my life I made sarma! It's a traditional dish made with sour cabbage leaves filled with minced meat and rice. They look like little bundles. The tricky part is making the little parcels but I found it fun, though time consuming. I was so proud of myself!
You will excuse me this time for not explaining the recipe, but it was my first try and I didn't know what to expect or if it would even be good. Next time if you want. Doesn't it look delicious? Anyone interested?
For the shortbread dough ( pasta frolla):
250 gr flour
125 gr butter
pinch of salt
lemon peel
little cold water
Spread:
Pumpkin jam
Cream topping:
125 gr mascarpone cheese
2 egg yolks
2 spoons sugar
lemon peel
Mix the ingredients quickly with your hands, add enough cold water to make a soft dough and let sit inside the fridge for 30 min wrapped in plastic foil.
Roll the dough and transfer it into a cake mold. Pierce the dough several times with a fork. With the leftover dough form a cylinder to decorate the edge of the cake.
Spread the pumpkin jam evenly over the dough and bake for 45 min at 190C.
Combine the yolks ,sugar and lemon peel in a bowl until white and frothy. Add the mascarpone and mix well. Top the crostata with the cream.
Enjoy!
