Today's creation:
And I took some time to design my ne blog page. What do you think?
http://floweryskirt.blogspot.com/To be honest, I'd like a clearer background...
Yay!
I certainly accomplished something today as well! Four items taken off the Reuse/Recycle/Refashion pile. All the notion were also reused.
The garments were also WIPs and UFOs, though.
An old boyfriend's shirt became baby pajamas:
And for the big refashion three pieces were used to make one:
One of my favorite artists. Could listen to him over and over and over again.
David Sylvian
And another one just because :-)
I made three headbands.
Yeah. Excuse the drunk look. Rosey cheeks and all. (Actually the photo looks pretty good. Blured but good. Taken randomly with the phone.)
Why do I look like that, you ask?
Well, I officially hate this time of the year. In addition to be allergic to something all year round there comes the time of a certain plant, I'm not even going to mention, that just runs over me like a train. This year it hit me particularly badly. Barely breathing. I got a ton of medicaments and ultimately an injection. If this one doesn't help there is no hope for you J said. :-)) Did that help? Well I can breathe much better BUT I'v got a rush, which means an allergic reaction (???) to the injection! I've been loughing at myself all day long. This is totally hilarious, ha! I'm not leaving the house. Indefinitely.
Now you know why I haven't been doing anything smart or creative lately. Last week I thought I would just lay down and fall asleep until mid October. Or rather die. If you happen to be heavily allergic to something that includes constricted breathing, you know what I mean.
Enough of that already, yes? I'm not really into rants.
So, the huuge achievement of the day. A whole three headbands. Might be a good start for the return of mojo and inspiration.
Made the flower, too.
September starts tomorrow. Including Self Stitched September. Hm..Right now I don't know if I'll be able to make it. Will try, though. With the remnants in my closet...And no real perspective of sewing something anytime soon. Or maybe I will. Who knows. I'm fast and effective. Yes I am. :-)
On the other hand of having trouble with one challenge I got me another. I joined CCS for the Thirty Days of Creating. Well, I find this a lot less challenging, though. You're supposed just to create every day. One little thing. Whatever suits you. Five or fifteen minutes. Only, every day. I felt inspired and empowered to do that after my tragic past weeks.
There are other side effects to the medicine I'm taking. Can't eat and can't sleep. And a curious one - I actually found words somewhere inside my brain to write an eloquent post! Well, you might not share my enthusiasm for this blogpost, but I find it to be my second big achievement of the day!
Ok, ok, going now...
I find this thing very odd, but our giveaway winner Laurel never mailed to claim her prize. I'm so sorry. :-(
And this is also the second time it happens. Hmmm... What can it be? How can this happen? Ideas?
But! This presents a new chance for the others! Yay!
So, let's see who will it be...
Aaand the winner is Andrea!
Congratulations!
And, will you, please send me an email with your address so I can ship you your prize?
I'm a bit worried... :-))
We had 9 participants to this drawing and...Ha! Faye, you would have been a lucky girl once more if you'd entered the drawing because the random number turned to be
So, the winner of our little "Just Because" Summer Giveaway, as the next in line, is LAUREL SMITH!
Congratulations Laurel!
Send me an email until next Sunday with your address so that I can send you your parcel, otherwise there will be another drawing.
And thanks for participating everyone!
P.S.
I'm thinking about migrating to Blogger. Any suggestions?
While at my parent's house Mother and I cleaned up the closets. She finally decided to do it. Afterward, I realized I never saw the shelves so bare. But I felt lighter.
There was a ton of stuff to be given away. Not all to the Red Cross! I brought back some. To give away or to refashion. Z joked that we needed a bigger car...:-)
These are clothes to refashion.
What I'm not showing here are the five bags of clothes to be given away. There were six.
Oh, and I forgot to mention that I managed to put my nose inside Grandma's closet, too. To my Mother's delight. She thinks Grandma keeps too much stuff in there. Unnecessarily. But they are much the same. They keep stuff for sentimental reasons not because they wear those dresses. It's because they belonged to their late relatives, sisters, aunts...With so much love. To be honest, I keep a few pieces for the same reason. :-) Do you?
On the other hand, my parents' families were poor. They learned to be thankful for and to take care of their belongings. So I understand Grandma's "No,no, I will keep this some more...You never know...For a need...".
Then I cleaned up my own shelves. Once again.
I feel so fortunate.
I promised Grandma a new dress.
